Arcana started with a frustration I could not shake.

I finished school in 2021 and spent the next four years teaching myself economics, trading, and the forces that move the global economy. Along the way I found a handful of thinkers I came to trust completely: economists, hedge fund managers, commodity specialists, people who understood derivatives better than anyone. Their analysis was some of the best I had ever read.

Every day began the same way. I would open the mainstream outlets first, The Economist, Bloomberg, Reuters, and drown in information. Endless information, most of it noise, almost none of it telling me what actually mattered. Then I would go looking for the people who did, my favourite minds, over on Substack and X, and still find more to read than any one person could ever hold.

There was never a shortage of information. There was only ever a shortage of clarity, and nowhere that brought it all together.

And on the side of the macro experts, the problem was just as obvious. The best minds were scattered across numerous platforms, each serving a different purpose. They would post their ideas on X, monetise through Substack, run private communities on Telegram or Discord, and maintain their own websites.

There was no network connecting them to the other great minds in their field. No shared audience. No intellectual network effect. No place where their work could compound alongside the work of others.

The very people producing the world's best macroeconomic intelligence were operating in a system that made it unnecessarily difficult for that intelligence to be discovered, connected and valued.

Some tried to solve it themselves. They built their own websites. A few built entire media companies around their work, and I respected the ambition behind it. But it only ever solved the problem for one person, and even then only halfway. A website with no audience is a quieter form of being unheard. They had traded a crowded platform for an empty one, and taken on the cost of running technology, payments and distribution instead of doing the thinking they were brilliant at.

For the reader, the world was no clearer. The best macro minds were still scattered, only now there were more places to track them.

What I wanted was simple, and it did not exist: one place. A private institution where the best macro minds in the world lived together, and where anyone serious could finally see clearly.

Because clarity was what I was missing. Mainstream media gives you one side. I wanted both. I loved watching an economist, a hedge fund manager, and a commodity expert reach different conclusions from the same facts, and then decide for myself.

No platform showed me that divergence. Nowhere could you see where conviction was building across the best minds, or where they were quietly pulling apart.

So in 2025, I decided to build the one that would. That was the moment Arcana stopped being an idea.

Loving it as a reader was easy. The harder question was why the world's best thinkers would ever come together in one place.

So I reached out to around 300 of the most respected macro names in the world. About 80 wrote back. Twenty sat down with me on a call. I described what Arcana would be, before a single line of it was built, and asked one question:

Twenty out of twenty said yes. Several told me they wished it had existed years ago.

That gave me the conviction to build it. But then came the harder part.

I started with one goal that felt almost naïve: get the best macro minds in the world into a single place, and build a private institution around them.

Then I went hunting for every reason it would fail.

Every flaw, every gap, every quiet way a thing like this could fall apart, I wrote them down and refused to move past a single one until it was solved.

I wanted to build something I would genuinely want to open every morning. Something I would trust with my own attention. So I spent hundreds of hours studying user experience, interface design and how people understand and navigate complex information.

I obsessed over the smallest details because I knew that if the experience was not exceptional, none of the thinking behind it would matter.

And something happened in that process I did not expect.

What began as a platform for the world's best macro thinkers became something much more ambitious. The work of bringing the right people together forced me to rethink how financial information is discovered, understood, connected and experienced.

I wasn't just building a place for great thinking to live.

A new way to discover the people who understand the world. A new way to see where the best minds agree and disagree. A new way to follow the markets and assets you care about, understand the news that moves them, connect the ideas behind them, and see the bigger picture shaping the global economy.

That was the moment I realised Arcana had become something I had not known was possible when I started.

I believe it can become a new way the world understands global macroeconomics and markets.

I also made a decision that surprised the people around me. I made most of Arcana free.

I could have built this to take as much as possible from the people who use it. That was never why I started. I built Arcana because I wanted it to exist, because I was the reader hunting for clarity and could never find it, and I will not put the thing I needed behind a paywall most people will never cross.

So we did the hard part for you.

We curated the minds. We cleared out the noise, the outrage and the engagement farming. What remains is signal, and for most people it is free.

And I built Arcana for anyone who has an interest in the global economy.
